The story of EDD.

EDD is an image of a typical American Seagull with attitude. He looked at me as if to say yaa…this is me, take a good look. This is my life and adventures….can you relate?

He has an attitude and he is a character in himself….as if he’s human. You are "better off to be EDD", is what is in his little head. He’s a very punning guy with something to say. We get to see him in little snapshots of his very interesting escapades not to mention all of his views, morals, thoughts and insights of life in this world.

Some people are hesitant about art, thinking they don’t know how to approach it… EDD can help. The EDD series is clever, witty, funny and puny, but it is also ART! They are all original paintings. I’ve been an artist for over 20 years and EDD came out of me as another child of mine. He expresses the humor and voice that was not to be contained. Art for me has to be expressed and so he erupted in this series of paintings. I love Contemporary Art and I also love to laugh. Art doesn’t always have to be so serious… Art can be fun and Art at the same time. My hope is that you would appreciate the aesthetics of original artwork and the joy of laughter at the same time.

He’s been everywhere, in all kinds of familiar situations and some not so familiar. He’s an all around guy, worldly and sophisticated, confident with a bit of attitude, serious but with a light heart. He has friends in high places and is very well ConnectEDD.

The Dream Series

The Dream Series is like a story in the making. When I’m working I spontaneously use my wits and experience in that moment only until afterwards can I tell the story to myself or to others. I incorporate various materials and I use mixed media techniques to execute in the moment, using color, imagery and abstraction together the interpretive story unfolds. My use of images from nature, such as birds and lotus flowers are symbols and visual cues into the work. I use perspective grids and boxes as symbols to represent the possibilities and differences of our own perspectives. I feel my work is a subconscious interpretation of our human desire for peace and spiritual satisfaction as we search for awareness, knowledge and relationships with nature and each other. My hope is for a connection between the viewers’ interpretation of my work using the visual cues to provoke their thinking of a personal experience and a storyline that they can relate too.

Design projects commissions

CCG is short for “Currents, Cycles & Grooves” a modular series.

Waller uses and explores lines in movement, as depicted in her Currents, Cycles and Grooves (CCG) series. With the CCG series, Margot designs and builds a sequence of individual panels both large and small, she paints layers of color on the surface then she scratches the surface with a sharp point tool to take off the wet paint, in doing this she creates patterns in the underlying colors. The CCG series has grooves on the surface from the thick paint. Patterns of currents of energy and cycles that go in and out, to and fro, push or pull how ever you look at it there is a sort of pulsing energy about them with a color and mood. These pieces are intended to be modular in which enables Margot the versatility to alter the arrangement of her work in response to her mood or to a set given architecture.

Homage to WWII Veteran

From a European crash site of a World War 2 airplane fragments, into a story board of panels and painting. Repurposed scraps of metal and plastic, pencil, charcoal, ink and acrylic paint on wood panel. My clients’ father’s war story retold in artwork.

One of the major themes of my work has been the human body and the personalities held within. I find that children in particular offer a uniquely fascinating opportunity for artistic expression. Nowhere is the fundamental strength and purity of the human spirit more apparent. I capture and preserve their spirit in a way that has not been done before. While a traditional portrait has its place, I see an opportunity for more, an opportunity to create a contemporary portrait with the longevity and complexity of a true work of art.
